Erosion Control and Drainage
Solve it now. Protect the land.
Hillside erosion and drainage problems are common on Cumberland Plateau properties, and they get worse over time if they are not addressed. We assess the issue, explain what is happening, and install solutions that work with the natural flow of water rather than just redirecting the problem.
This is one of the areas where Griffin's sustainability background makes a real difference. We think about long-term outcomes, not quick fixes.
How do I know if my property has a drainage or erosion problem?
Common signs include: low spots that hold water after rain, soil washing away from slopes or beds, erosion channels forming in the yard, or foundation moisture near the house. If you are not sure, we are happy to walk the property and take a look.
What kinds of solutions do you install?
It depends on the cause. We use grading corrections, French drains, dry creek beds, retaining plantings, and stone barriers depending on what will actually solve the issue. We do not do one-size-fits-all drainage work.
Will the solution affect my existing landscaping?
We try to minimize disruption. We will tell you before we start what the work will affect and what it will not.
Is this considered a big project or a small one?
Most erosion and drainage work we take on falls in the small to mid-range. We are not earthmoving contractors, but we handle the kind of drainage issues most residential properties in this area deal with.
Can you combine erosion work with a planting or installation project?
Yes, and it often makes sense to do both at the same time. Stabilizing a slope with native ground cover alongside a drainage correction is more effective and more sustainable than either alone.
